What does Healing Look Like?

Greetings!

We live in a society where we expect instant gratification. Healing is no different. We don't want to put in the time, work or effort that healing requires. There is an entire health industry based on trying to satiate the insatiable. Everywhere we look, we are inundated with "quick fixes." We want to believe in a magic pill or that somehow all of our problems will go away overnight. But the reality is that we have incarnated here with a long history of past lives with unhealed traumas, events, beliefs, and damage. What wasn't healed previously, will eventually surface to be healed. As wonderful as it would be, it simply isn't realistic to expect to be fully healed in one session.

Think of healing as maintenance for your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects. Just as you must maintain a car with oil changes, new parts, and tire rotations, so too must you maintain your body. Wear and tear on the body from stress and daily life takes its toll. Without proper maintenance, we open ourselves up to illness and dis-ease and can feel run down, exhausted, depressed and unable to cope.

Healing is a continuous process that ebbs and flows. We will go through periods in our lives that require us to do intensive healing. As we work through the issues that surface, we often find an intricate web. For example, a person may have a sore shoulder. The pain may seem to have come from nowhere. Perhaps this pain does not even originate in the shoulder.  Or perhaps this person has been storing a lot of emotions in this part of the body. This pain may be showing up at the same age when this person's shoulder was injured in a previous lifetime. Pain is often quite complex and multifaceted, be it physical or not.

We have become so accustomed to seeking care once a medical issue has already arisen or gotten unbearable. We dismiss what we feel in our bodies and our minds, and try to power through it all. Social conditioning has convinced us that we are weak for seeking help or that it is a luxury to enage in proactive care. As we continue to ignore the warning signs building, in time we manifest a crisis of sorts. Whether that is a physical breakdown or mental, we reach a point of needing help. But if we take the time to listen to our bodies, everything shifts.

Healing is a very unique, personalized process. No two people's journeys will be the same, nor should they be. To begin, we don't all start in the same position. Some people may be dealing with more traumas, unhealthy patterns and belief systems, more complex medical issues, generational difficulties and past life "debris." Some people inherently deal with stress better than others or have more tools at their disposal. Different life stages and complexities can have an impact. Different stages of awakening/ascension are also a factor.

As we ascend and raise our vibrations, we simply cannot take lower energies with us. We cannot live in a constant state of fear, anger, resentment, jealousy, or greed. In the process of ascension, that which holds us back will need to be released. The physical body stores emotions, beliefs, thoughts and traumas. These can show up in any area of the body and over time if not released, dis-ease can take hold. As we heal and allow our bodies to let go of what is no longer serving us, physical changes take place. To make room for more of what we do want, we must purge that which is no longer a vibrational match. This can extend beyond physical changes in the body and can include relationships, jobs, foods, habits, beliefs, and the stories we tell ourselves.

Healing is like a spiral. We may feel we have healed a particular trauma or pain, only to find ourselves grappling with it again. As we grow and ascend, we learn new strategies and gain new insight so that we can revisit "old hurts" and dig a little deeper. Rather than view this as a failure or as though we are running in circles, we should congratulate ourselves for reaching a higher vantage point. As we heal at the soul level and can see things from a higher perspective, we are able to meet ourselves in a more meaningful, purposeful place.

How often should we schedule healing sessions? As everyone has unique needs and is in a different place, this is not a simple question to answer. For some of my clients going through a lot of changes, stress, or discomfort in the body, they may want to schedule sessions every few weeks. For other clients, they may want to schedule every few months. There is no one size fits all and it is best to listen to your body, your mind and your intuition.
